After breakfast, we headed to see three caves on the northwestern most part of the island that is accessible by car. They were large and dark. Once again, I was amazed by God’s creativity. We then headed to the Kauai Craft Fair to pick up some souvenirs for everyone back home. On the way to Neil’s cabin, we picked up a Brick Oven pizza for lunch, which we ate while we watched the Mavs game. This cabin, by the way, was remarkable. It was perfect—a living area, a kitchen, a bathroom and a loft bedroom with attached balcony and most importantly, ESPN 2.

It was a relaxing afternoon, and we topped it off by driving to Polihale Beach, where we watched the sunset. This is the most western place in the United States, so we were the last ones to see the sun go down that day. My, was it beautiful! The wide expanse of soft sand against the endless ocean waves was just breathtaking. I can’t remember ever being so at peace as I was that evening. God is such a wonderful artist, painting the bright orange sunrays amidst the clouds and reflecting off the water.

On our way back to Neil’s, we picked up some ice cream at Big Save, and yes, that is what we had for dinner that night.
