Are you kidding?

Ok, this cold weather has gotten a bit ridiculous. Last night we had a mixture of rain and snow. Not too much, mind you. It’s actually been a bit warmer the last few days. However, when I left for work this morning, I tried to put my stuff in the passenger’s side door of one of our cars. No luck. The handle lifted, but nothing happened. So I moved to the driver’s side. No luck again.

I then went back inside and got the keys to our other car. Neither door worked again. Sweet Ryan stayed out there for me pounding on the edge of the car door to get it to loosen while I went back inside to call work. I felt so silly, by the way, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m going to be late because I can’t manage to open any of our car doors.” Maybe that’s a common excuse in this part of the country, but I think if I were to say the same thing in Texas, people would laugh at me. “What do you mean you can’t open the car door? Just grab the handle and lift. How hard is that?”

Well, I can now attest that that simple act of opening a door can be harder than it sounds. Thankfully my sweet husband was finally able to get the door to open so I could head to work. The other car is still sealed shut, though, and Ryan had to miss his first Shepherd group meeting this morning. Thank you, Lord, for my serving, unselfish husband and that this isn’t an everyday ordeal.

I couldn't get my car door open either yesterday! I pulled so hard I thought I was going to break the handle off! LOL
