Evie - 2 Months!

Some of this may be more information than any of you care to read, but I realize as I look back at Caleb's monthly posts, that I appreciate the most the little mannerisms that I recorded along the way. Therefore, I'm going to try and make it a habit to document the same kinds of things about Evie.

At your 2 Month checkup, you weighed 12 lb 11.4 oz, which put you in the 88th percentile for weight, you were 23.75" long (90th percentile) and your head circumference was 15.35" (52nd percentile).

You started going 8+ hours between feedings at night at 5.5 weeks. At this point, you typically eat around 8:30 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm and 11 pm. Your daddy (and Caleb) tried giving you your first bottle this month, but you weren't having it. You didn't fuss, but you also didn't want anything to do with that bottle...hopefully we'll conquer that challenge soon.

You will often make this cute sighing noise when you're eating...often with every gulp. Your daddy and I love it! You are fairly noisy and active (arms and legs moving) while you eat.

I'm sure this next little tidbit will embarrass you later, but I think it's sweet. It's gotten a little bit harder recently, but for the first 1.5 months or so, I could always tell when you were about to go potty. You make this adorable "potty face", in which you push your lips out and purse them together. Too cute!

You make me laugh with your Stevie Wonder act. That may sound bizarre, but when I'm holding you against my shoulder, you'll often move your head back and forth against my shoulder like Stevie Wonder. You'll even lead with the top of your head and drag your chin like he does. You will sometimes do this back and forth for 1-2 minutes.

You're wearing some Newborn clothing still, but mostly 0-3 month, and you're in a Size 1 diaper.

Sitting in your Bumbo seat was a new experience this month, and you seem to enjoy it. You'll often sit in your Bumbo on the table while we eat dinner.

At the beginning of this month, you discovered your tongue. You often would play with it and stick it out of your mouth with the tip of it pointing up. You have such a precious, tiny tongue!

You started smiling on your 6 week birthday. You are a very happy baby and are typically the most smiley after your first morning feeding. I usually don't have to work hard to get you to smile--I usually just say, "Hi, Evie," and a huge grin comes across your face. I often intentionally try not to look at you when I'm feeding you because sometimes when I do look down at you, you'll stop eating just so you can smile at me.

Something I realized recently is that through your smiles and the joy in your eyes when you look at me, I can tell you love me. It warms my heart so much to watch you smiling and cooing at me. What a precious girl you are, Evie!

At the end of this month you started opening your mouth and leaning in toward me when I would kiss you. Afterward you would just smile.

Evie, we adore you and are so in love with you!!
