Happy Birthday, Bear!

February 28, 2004. Our sweet little Wally Bear came into the world, along with the rest of his furry brothers and sisters. God has blessed us tremendously with Wally, and we're thankful for this day to celebrate him.

On the agenda for Bear's birthday:
1. Make Wally a birthday hat with an elastic strap.
2. Parade him around our apartment complex for everyone to marvel at his beauty.
3. Take him to the park so he can fetch balls and chase squirrels (to befriend them).
4. Make him a doggie birthday cake.
5. Shower him with squeakie toys and bouncy balls.

Ok, so unfortunately none of that is really going to happen today, but Wally is special to us nonetheless.

Today is also the birthday of a very dear friend of ours, Kyle Walker. Happy birthday, Kyle!

Drastic Measures

I'm so very blessed to be studying under such godly, gifted men at Southern Seminary. Though I've never had Dr. Robert Plummer in a class, I'm eager to take him. Recently, he addressed college students at the "Give Me an Answer" Conference. There, he challenged them to take drastic measures in their battle against sexual sin. In spite of this sex-saturated culture, and in light of our deceitful hearts, Christ's call to holiness demands our resolve and devotion. Please read this article summarizing Dr. Plummer's remarks. May our thoughts, actions, and words be to the praise of His glory!

Are you kidding?

Ok, this cold weather has gotten a bit ridiculous. Last night we had a mixture of rain and snow. Not too much, mind you. It’s actually been a bit warmer the last few days. However, when I left for work this morning, I tried to put my stuff in the passenger’s side door of one of our cars. No luck. The handle lifted, but nothing happened. So I moved to the driver’s side. No luck again.

I then went back inside and got the keys to our other car. Neither door worked again. Sweet Ryan stayed out there for me pounding on the edge of the car door to get it to loosen while I went back inside to call work. I felt so silly, by the way, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m going to be late because I can’t manage to open any of our car doors.” Maybe that’s a common excuse in this part of the country, but I think if I were to say the same thing in Texas, people would laugh at me. “What do you mean you can’t open the car door? Just grab the handle and lift. How hard is that?”

Well, I can now attest that that simple act of opening a door can be harder than it sounds. Thankfully my sweet husband was finally able to get the door to open so I could head to work. The other car is still sealed shut, though, and Ryan had to miss his first Shepherd group meeting this morning. Thank you, Lord, for my serving, unselfish husband and that this isn’t an everyday ordeal.

Go Mavs!

I just had to take a second to make sure everyone is aware that the Dallas Mavericks still have the best record in the NBA. By far.

How Many of Me?

I saw this on another blog recently and thought it was kind of neat.

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are:
33
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

More Random Facts:

Now, I don't know if that means there are that many Kellis with an "i" or if it's just the same name, but I think it's with an "i" because it says that 99.9% of the people with my first name are female. Anyway, Kelli is statistically the 656th most popular first name. (tied with 8 other first names)

There are 240 Ryan Bishops. Ryan is the 109th most popular first name.

There are 3 Wally Bishops. Wally is the 2397th most popular first name. (Ok, so technically, our Wally isn't a person, but he's so important in our lives that I had to look him up.)

Bishop is the 215th most popular last name. (tied with 7 other last names)

I'm sure all of you feel much more fulfilled now that you know this rivoting information. Isn't it great to know I'm so productive on my days off!?

Wally the Snowbear

So I know that I already entered a post about our first Louisville snow. However, it melted so fast last time that Wally didn't get to experience it. Today, however, we woke up to a find God has covered us with a thin white blanket of snow.

I was all too excited to see how Wally would respond to his first encounter with snow. There wasn't any ice, so he didn't have to worry about slipping, but he still didn't know what to think. The picture to the right is the very first picture I took of him. His tail couldn't have been any further between his legs.

Our little snowbear was pretty curious about the snow, and as all dogs do, he sniffed everything. However, in doing so, the cold snow got all over his sweet face. He was too cute!

Wally loved being outside with this new experience, but I know he was thankful to come into our warm home again with its dry carpet.
